DEPICTING A RANGE OF FREQUENCIES FROM... 256 TO 4000

To construct the placement of the tones, it was convenient to draw a diagonally placed square whose sides extended beyond the limits of the canvas. More tones could then be depicted within the limits of the canvas, than measuring off spaces on a straight line. Wherever a tone fell an arc was drawn. The arcs formed a pattern of clusters of notes together, some singly and much empty space.
The numbers used were always multiples of 2, 3 & 5 ONLY. Numbers indicated in the frequencies of relative pitch. Wave forms were then superimposed on the structure to see if the tones could be enclosed in crests or troughs...
